A Taste of Summer

We spent the weekend at our holiday home in the Coromandel, Cooks Beach. Yes the beach is named after the great explorer James Cook who arrived here and put New Zealand on the map.  I have been coming here for the past 25 or so years spending many holidays as a child swimming, exploring & relaxing in this part of our wonderful country. Perhaps sharing the similar interests you could say.

This past weekend was really really nice, the spring temps here are just getting up into the 20’s but the breeze was cool keeping it moderate. Enough for shorts, jandles (flip-flops) and of course ice cream!

I took our 65 Mustang for a quick drive for a coffee at the famous Hot Water Beach. A couple of surfers were making the most of some 2ft waves but I didn’t have my long lens for any decent pics..but entertaining while I enjoyed the coffee in the morning sun.

We usually spend two or so weeks here over Christmas for our yearly holiday period so look forward to getting the boat out on the water for a spot of fishing and some long swims to cool off.

Summer holidays are only a few weeks away but this was the perfect taste to just get that little bit excited!

Pics taken with my Fujifilm XE2, I shot mostly using the Classic Chrome filter, about half are jpegs and other raws edited to taste with the filter applied in ACR. I remember people just busting to get this update for their fujifilm cameras but have since not seen much fuss about it on the internet since. So thought id give it a good working over ! hahDSCF0219 DSCF0221
