Beach Hop is New Zealand’s largest festival celebrating the 50-80’s era of American music & classic car culture. This is a full week long event where hot rods & american classic cars cruise all over the Coromandel peninsula to some of New Zealand’s most stunning white sandy beaches with the final stop for two days of car shows, live rock n roll music & one too many beverages at the popular surf town of Whangamata. Overall a pretty wet beach hop for 2015, a total contrast to that of the previous year but the rain did not put a damper on this party. There have been mentions of people in attendance around the 60,000 in previous years, with just too many cars to take in ranging from a 1600hp Roadrunner to your meticulously restored 65 Mustang. Even with a little rain the owners still brought the cars out in true kiwi fashion but the weather made it very hard to get around and keep dry while taking photos! Pretty tough to capture with the challenge of shooting with film & a pregnant wife in tow but hopefully it adds to the era of the scene and is enough of a taste for you to make sure you don’t miss it next year!
